Headquartered in Amsterdam, Heineken is the second-largest beer company in the world. In 2012, accident rates were already low at its Brazilian unit, but the company felt it could operate with a dramatically improved level of work-related accidents – a goal it set about reaching with the help of SafeStart.

SafeStart at Heineken Brazil

Heineken’s strategy focused on workers’ behaviour right from the start, encouraging them to pay attention to the interplay of mental states and errors.  The result was an 85 percent reduction in accidents from 2012 to 2014.
